Six-Point Critical Analysis Worksheet
My blog posting is available online at:
https://envr1301-haeleitrout.blogspot.com/2021/04/3331.html
1. Exploratory
Probe basic facts and knowledge found in the readings. (What research evidence supports _________?Type up several facts and basic knowledge from the readings. Relate this to what you find in other resources, prior activities for stronger scores.))
So, I actually just got back from LA this past week, and I never knew there was such thing as "smog". This is unrelated to what this blog post is about I just wanted to inform someone on how mind blown I was overseeing pollution with my own eyeballs.
On a related to this topic note, I flew american airlines and THEY ARE LIARS. According to the article I found on National Geographic, they are claiming to ban the use of of single use plastic products..... LIARS. I was handed a plastic cup of water this weekend!!!
2. Diagnostic
Probe motives or causes. (Why?(Tell your reader why this occurs. Explain the causes in detail.))
American Airlines has offered beverages on their flights and in their lounges forever, however they are now claiming that they are going to do away with plastic straws and cups, in effort to help the environment.
3. Cause and Effect
Causal relationships between ideas, actions, or events. (If __________ occurs, what happens?)
American airlines is claiming that by doing away with their plasic sinlge use cups, their plastic straws, and replacing coffee stirs with bamboo sticks that they will get be eleniating 71,000 pounds of plastic.
4. Priority
Seek to identify the most important issue. (What is the most important issue?)
Ths issue with this article is that it was written on October 18, 2018.... I took an american airlines flight on April 13, 2021 AND I WAS PRESENTED WITH PLASTIC ITEMS!! So, therefore, this is false advertising and american airlines is a big fat liar.
5. Application
Probe for relationships and connect theory to practice. (How does this apply to you? How is this related to culture as we have studied so far?)
This is 20201 everyone wants to be hip and up to date with what is new. Everyone is a vegan, no one eats gluten, who would dare shop walmart when trader joe's is down the street. We all want to save the turtles and get rid of plastic straws, the problem is that EVERYONE IS A BIG FAT POSER. WHY IN THE WORLD would you claim to ban plastic cups, then voluntarily give them out on your airlines...? Maybe I am just upset with how ghetto of an experience I just had with them this past week, but this just really put me over the edge with their lying a$$, plastic using, ghetto airlines. NO SIR. You will catch me flying strictly southwest from now on.
6. Critical
Analyze how this challenges your thinking/assumptions. (How did this change your thinking? Did it? Why?)
I already knew that the world was full of posers, but the fact that the CEO put out a fake article stating to be cool when they really aren't. I really was annoyed with my flight expericence with them this weekend, I only went with them to save like $100 but honestly I should've just spent the extra hundo and went with southwest who 1) lets you check and carry on a bag for free (american airlines is $30 each way so $60 total), and 2) they aren't posing liars.
BELOW IS THE POST FROM NATIONAL GEO
AMERICAN AIRLINES CUTS PLASTIC
After announcing this summer that they would ban plastic straws and stirrers on their flights (see below), American Airlines now says they will phase out single-use plastic in their lounges.
The airline has lounges in the U.S. and around the world. A representative from the company says the lounges won't serve drinks with straws, and plastic won't be used for flatware. Plastic water bottles will no longer be served, and reusable bags will be given to customers taking food to-go.
Changes to the airlines' lounges are currently going into effect, and onboard straws will be eliminated by November 1. Straws will be available for those who request one, and drink stirrers will be replaced by bamboo sticks.
Cumulatively, the company says their changes will eliminate 71,000 pounds of plastic waste annually.
